Period underwear looks simple from the outside, but wholesale reliability depends heavily on the gusset. Instead of requesting “high absorbency,” give every factory the same measurable target. Those figures should be treated as purchasing specifications rather than universal industry definitions because brands and test methods differ.

Ask the factory to state the test method, liquid volume, loading speed, conditioning method, pressure applied after absorption, number of specimens, and pass/fail limit. A claim of “50 mL capacity” is hard to compare when one supplier measures saturation and another measures leakage under pressure.

Sample quantity also matters. Testing one garment tells you very little about production consistency. Order at least 3 pieces per size or construction when possible; 5–10 specimens give a better picture when comparing absorbency, dimensions, seam quality, and repeated washing. Record every result in the same spreadsheet so factories are judged under identical conditions.

The first comparison should cover the garment before washing, followed by repeated laundering.
